Vernon Area library remodeling:

The Vernon Area Public Library, 300 Olde Half Day Road in Lincolnshire, will close for a $1.3 million remodeling project starting Tuesday. Patrons will have continued access to books, DVDs, games and other materials at the former library building, also called the annex building, on Indian Creek Road. The library board approved the work in January. A new self-service café, a quiet reading room with a fireplace and dedicated areas for teens, early readers, and group study are planned. The public restrooms will be remodeled, too. The library should reopen by end of May.
