As your recent article in the Daily Herald reported, there are over 1 billion Catholics worldwide. The cardinals are traveling to Rome to select a new pope, and not a single Catholic woman will serve in a substantive decision-making role in this selection.
This is so troubling on multiple fronts. At least two of the U.S. cardinals who are going to Rome to contribute to this very important decision have been publicly called out for their questionable decisions (and actions) regarding priest sexual abuse. These men are key decision makers in the selection of our future pope, but not a single woman on our planet is deemed qualified to participate in this selection? Who else, besides me, is troubled by this scenario?
