I am writing this letter in an effort to inform the voters who will be casting their votes on April 9th for College of Lake County trustees.
I have been a trustee at a community college in Kansas for over 24 years. I have also served on the executive board of the Kansas Association of Community College Trustees for 20 years, served on the national Association of Community College Trustees board for six years, serving as Chair in 2000-2001 and also served on the American Association of Community College's national board for three years. Individuals like Barbara Oilschlager serve on community college boards because they believe they can and do make a difference in someone's life. These individuals serve without pay and with many personal sacrifices for themselves and families in order to serve their students and constituents in their community college districts.
I have known Barbara Oilschlager in her role as a trustee at the College of Lake County for over 20 years and have watched her tirelessly represent the College of Lake County at both the state of Illinois community college meetings in advocating for students and the taxpayers of Lake County and at a national level in a continued effort to persuade our national legislators to see the need to continue supporting community colleges nationally.
I can tell you personally that this is no easy task. Trustees like Barbara Oilschlager do this only because they have a desire and commitment to their communities.
Barbara's experience, knowledge, and committed dedication to College of Lake County is a value that needs to be maintained by returning Barbara Oilschlager to the board of trustees. A vote for Barbara Oilschlager on April 9th is a vote for the students and community of Lake County.
