Route 53 work starts Monday

Daily shoulder work and partial ramp closures for the removal and replacement of sign panels along Interstate 290/Route 53 from Thorndale Avenue to Route 12 will begin Monday, Feb. 25, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation.

After April 1, there will also be overnight lane closures, weather permitting. Ramps and roads with exits or entrances to the highway will affected.

On weekdays, daily shoulder closures between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. along I-290/Route 53 will occur. Lane closures and times will vary. During the replacement of the overhead assemblies and signs overnight lane closures will vary, but can be expected from about 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 8 p.m. to 11 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
