A Cook County judge dismissed disorderly conduct charges against a Hoffman Estates High School student Wednesday.
Markeisha N. Jones, 18, of Hanover Park, had been charged with the misdemeanor offense after she and three other teens were arrested last November in conjunction with a false bomb threat phoned into Hoffman Estates High School.
Authorities say Sharell M. Thomas, 18, of Hanover Park, phoned in the fake threat to get the teens out of school. Thomas, who does not attend Hoffman Estates High School, faces charges of disorderly conduct and false transmission of a bomb threat. She next appears in a Rolling Meadows courtroom on March 18.
Two other teens, who were 15 and 16 at the time, are being prosecuted as juveniles, authorities said.
The school was on lockdown for about an hour following the bomb threat. During that time, police searched the building and the perimeter. Several more hoax calls came into the school during the search, police said.Copyright © 2013 Paddock Publications, Inc. All rights reserved.
