Bank robber gets five years for Algonquin heist

By

A Round Lake Beach man was sentenced to more than five years in prison Wednesday after pleading guilty last year to robbing an Algonquin bank.

Mohammed Nusrath Ali Khan, 42, was ordered to repay the bank the $5,211 he stole during the robbery, as well.

Khan received the 62-month prison sentence after pleading guilty in November. Khan has been in federal custody since June 8, 2012, when he was arrested by Skokie police, just days after a Fifth Third Bank on the 400 block of South Randall Road in Algonquin was robbed.

In the plea agreement, Khan admitted that he entered the bank on May 23, 2012, with a BB gun concealed in the waistband of his pants under a shirt and presented a teller with a note demanding money. The note warned the teller that he was carrying a gun.

He will receive credit for time already served.
