About this Article

St. Charles resident Steve Spear will start an adventure in April that fewer people have accomplished than scaling the summit of Mt. Everest. Spear will run 3,200 miles from Santa Monica to the Atlantic Ocean in New York to raise $1.5 million to bring a clean water system to 30,000 people in Kenya. He'll have to run about a marathon a day for five months. "I hated it," Spear said about his first 10K. "I hated the training. I hated every part of it."
