"Once," the 2012 Tony Award-winning musical inspired by John Carney's film about a Dublin street musician and a Czech flower seller who strike up a professional and personal relationship, comes to Chicago as part of Broadway in Chicago's fall season.

The show, which arrives at the Oriental Theatre Oct. 9, joins the previously announced "To Master the Art" (Sept. 10-Oct. 6, Broadway Playhouse) and "Wicked" — one of several BIC "off-season specials" — that flies into the Oriental Theatre on Oct. 30.

Kicking off the season is "Buddy," about the meteoric rise and the too-short career of rock 'n' roll pioneer Buddy Holly (June 18-30, Cadillac Palace Theatre).

It's followed by another stage adaptation of a popular film, "Flashdance — The Musical," which features songs from the 1983 film about a welder who dreams of becoming a ballerina (July 30-Aug. 11, Cadillac Palace).

A touring production of Broadway's 2012 revival of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Evita," comes to the Oriental Theatre Sept. 17 to Oct. 6.

The year concludes in yuletide style with "Elf the Musical" (Nov. 26-Dec. 15, Cadillac Palace), which concluded a second holiday season run on Broadway last month.

Other off-season special include "The Cat in the Hat" (June 15-Sept. 1, Broadway Playhouse), adapted from the Dr. Seuss classic, and "We Will Rock You" (Oct. 22-27, Cadillac Palace), the long-running London salute to Queen featuring such hits as "We are the Champions" and "Bohemian Rhapsody" among others.

Complete casting has not been announced.

Tickets for groups of 15 or more are available by phone (312) 977-1710. Current Broadway in Chicago subscribers can renew now at broadwayinchicago.com. New subscribers can purchase fall 2013 season tickets beginning March 22.

Individual tickets will go on sale at a later date.
