A Westmont woman has been charged with murder in the stabbing death of her husband, the DuPage County State's Attorney announced Sunday.
Lisa Davis, 42, of the 500 block of West 61st Street, faces one count of first-degree murder alleging she killed David Davis, 49, during an altercation Friday night.
Westmont police responding to a 911 call from the couple's residence about 7:29 p.m. Friday found David Davis bleeding from a knife wound to the right side of his stomach, according to a news release.
He was treated at the scene and transported to a hospital, but died from his injuries at 11:36 p.m., authorities said.
Lisa Davis was arrested at the scene and remained in custody Sunday at the DuPage County jail.
Police said that at some point before the stabbing, the couple got into a verbal altercation that escalated and ended with Lisa Davis stabbing her husband with a kitchen knife.
"On behalf of the entire Westmont Community, we express our condolences to the Davis family during this tragic time," Westmont Police Chief Thomas Mulhearn said. "We will continue to work closely with the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office in the prosecution of the defendant."
Davis will appear in a DuPage County courtroom at 8 a.m. Monday morning for a bond hearing.Copyright © 2014 Paddock Publications, Inc. All rights reserved.
