ü David Wells joined the HandsOn Suburban Chicago board of directors. Wells serves as vice president of human resources and chief ombudsman for Snap-on Tools, a division of Snap-on Inc.
Prior to joining Snap-on, Wells worked at Sears, Roebuck and Co., for over 20 years, in various human resource roles as well as retail operations and finance/accounting. Additionally, he has over 15 years of experience in the franchising industry, has served on the franchise relations committee of the International Franchise Association and is a certified franchise executive.
ü Mike Paradise, a Rolling Meadows horse racing publicist, will be honored by the Illinois Harness Horsemenís Association with the national 2012 Clyde Hirt Media Award for his contribution to the publicity of Illinois harness horse racing.
The award will be presented by the Harness Horsemenís International at the Dan Patch Awards Banquet, the culminating event at the Harness Congress VI weekend in March.
Tom Kuehne, Arlington Heights director of finance and treasurer, was elected to the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund board of trustees as an executive trustee.
As the second largest public pension fund in Illinois, IMRF administers a plan of retirement, disability and death benefits for 3,000 municipal employers ó including park districts, villages and school districts (for nonteaching personnel) ó and covers approximately 175,000 active members and 100,000 retirees.
Kuehne, a resident of Arlington Heights, previously served as director of finance and treasurer for Addison and LaGrange. He holds a bachelorís degree in public administration and economics and a masterís degree in public administration.
ü Mount Prospect resident Emma Swanson, a senior at Prospect High School, received a Silver Key Award for her art portfolio in the Midwest Region-at-Large Scholastic Art Competition. This region includes Illinois, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, North Dakota and Ohio.
