Questions & Answers

Name the three most important goals or objectives this board should tackle in the coming term. Prioritize them, and briefly discuss why you believe each to be critical, and how the board should go about addressing them.

1. Overseeing the budget, and making sure the budget is kept. 2. Make sure the tax money collected is used for General Assistance ( care for the needy)making sure their needs are met.3. Working with the Social Agencies, Working with the Youth programs. These are important and they take in a large part of the community.Money to operate programs are granted to these groups to help operate programs that would not operate without the Townships help.

In the 21st Century, with municipalities gobbling up vacant land, why are townships needed? Should they be serving a new role? If so, what?

The above answer covers this questions. I think Elgin Township is serving new roles. The unincorporated portion of Elgin Township household is saving approx. $200.00 per year because the Township found another garbage pick up provider.

What should be the primary responsibility of township government?

The primary responsibility of the Township Government is to be sure the people of the Township is being served correctly, by making sure the decisions made by the board are thought out carefully with no politics involved, and make a decision that favors the whole Township.

In these hard economic times, can you identify some township expenses/programs that could be trimmed or eliminated to reduce the tax burden?

The Township does not have any waste we can identify, what we did do for next years levy we froze, we believe we can operate without an increase.

What specific background or experience do you bring that makes you the best qualified candidate to serve as an elected official in the township?

I have been a Trustee since 1997 when there was turmoil on the Board, I along with the 3 Trustees that were elected with me have brought fairness, accountability, and trust to the Township. Sixteen years of hard work has given me experience to Serve as Trustee on Elgin Township Board, along with working with the community.
