My involvement with Emergency Management has resulted in development of a comprehensive Emergency Management Plan for the Village. I am proud of and wish to continue my service to the Village of Third Lake.Given the delicate balance between the need for revenue and over-taxing local businesses, what is your opinion of your community's present level of local sales taxes? Is the tax just right, too low or too high? Explain.just rightTalking with your friends and neighbors, what seems to be their biggest public safety concern? Explain the concern as you see it, and discuss how you think it should be addressed.Other than some infrequent minor incidents involving younger village residents, we have no major public safety concerns. A main concern is water safety on our lakes. In the past, we have noted some unsafe practices by novice boaters on our lakes. Most of these involve lack of knowledge of State regulations regarding boating (lifevests available on-board, age requirements for motorcraft operators, use of spotters when waterskiing/tubing,etc.). When we issue the annual boat stickers, we provide a "rules of the road" information sheet. Our Lake's Commission addresses these lake safety issues.In these tight economic times, municipal budgets have to be prioritized. Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?With our current team,our budget has always been balanced. We continue to end each fiscal year with a surplus.
