Questions & Answers

Name the three most important goals or objectives this board should tackle in the coming term. Prioritize them, and briefly discuss why you believe each to be critical, and how the board should go about addressing them.

We will continue to operate in the black. With economy the way it is we didn't take a raise. We will get all the Grant money possible for our Thelen Park project, the same as we did for the Osmond Park. We will continue to give our Seniors transportation and outings.

In the 21st Century, with municipalities gobbling up vacant land, why are townships needed? Should they be serving a new role? If so, what?

The Township is here to serve it's people and those in need. We do not want duplicate other governmental programs.

What should be the primary responsibility of township government?

Supplying needs to those that live in Antioch Township. We use the Township building for voting, meetings for the community, and picnics for the Seniors.

In these hard economic times, can you identify some township expenses/programs that could be trimmed or eliminated to reduce the tax burden?

We are not a tax burden as we are not duplicating programs. We have already trimmed the budget by not taking a raise. We have operated in the Black for many years. We are very careful of our spending. Osmond Park was paid for by the donation of the land, Grant monies and donations of the community.

What specific background or experience do you bring that makes you the best qualified candidate to serve as an elected official in the township?

Before being appointed as a Township Trustee, I attended Township meetings for many years. I have been to Washington, D.C., Peoria, IL, and Springfield, IL for meetings pertaining to Township Government.
