Key Issue 1
Transparency With the help of the interim director Marilyn Boria and the members of the Board of Trustees I have been able to have the un-posted minutes posted for a truthful and transparent Library. I encourage people of Carol Stream to see for themselves why it is so important to select trustees that will follow their wishes. http://www.cslibrary.org/boardinformation.html#agenda
Key Issue 2
I want to ensure the leadership of the board is truthful and ethical. Our Library is extremely important to our Village. It needs to grow with advanced technology and a staff that understands that they are there to serve them. In order to accomplish this you need truthful and ethical Trustees with vision.
Key Issue 3
Looking at the Budget line by line and making sure each dollar requested is needed and not just wanted. I want to participate in the long range planning for the growth of the library so that future programs and services not only advance the quality of our Library, but are implemented in a fiscally responsible manner. Throwing tax dollars at problems don't solve them.
Do you support the board's decision to put the library's Kuhn Road property on the market? Would you support a sale or lease of the property? Would you ever support construction of a new library in the village?
a.) I support the board's decision to put the Kuhn Road property on the market. b.) I would support the sale or lease of the property. c.) I would support the construction of a new library if it were needed and the community voted for it.
What specifically will you do to improve the working relationship among board members?
I have always strived to be respectful and professional to my fellow board members and follow our By-laws which states that we will adhere to Robert's Rules of Order.
Why are you running for this office, whether for re-election or election the first time? Is there a particular issue that motivates you, and if so, what is it?
Our Library serves a very important role in our Village. Its quality and growth are very important to me. As a concerned citizen it became apparent that a few individuals on the library board were not listening to the people of Carol Stream when going forward with referendum # 3 to build a new library. Since being on the library board I have endeavored to listen to the Village and give them the best library possible without any financial burden to them.
Do you have a library card? How long have you had it? How often do you use it?
Yes. With the recently added databases I?m excited about the new knowledge available and fully intend on using them.
What impact have economic and technological changes had on libraries? How does a library remain relevant? How should its role in the community change?
It should be a source of knowledge for the entire Village regardless of age and an adventure for our youth. We?ve just added new databases and 59 high speed state of the art computers along with upgrading the Wi-Fi band to better serve the Village.
