Armed robber strikes in North Aurora

North Aurora police said Friday they are looking for a man who robbed a 7-Eleven at gunpoint Thursday and left with cash, lottery tickets and cigarettes.

The armed robbery occurred at 5:35 a.m. at the convenience store at 718 Butterfield Road, according to a news release.

Police said the male suspect demanded cash while pointing a small black gun at the store clerk, who complied. It’s unknown exactly how much money he may have come away with.

The man also took an unknown quantity of lottery scratch off tickets and “several” cartons of cigarettes, police said.

The suspect was described as a black man, approximately 6 feet tall, with a lean build. He was last seen wearing a black and white shirt, black gloves and a black mask.

Police said the thief was last seen heading west from the store, but they completed a search nearby and were unable to locate him.

Authorities said anyone who may have seen the thief before or after the robbery is asked to call (630) 897-8705, ext. 610.
