Avon Township officials appointed a new deputy clerk during a meeting Monday. Cathy deGroh received the nod for the position. DeGroh also is an Avon Township trustee candidate in the April 9 election. Lisa Rusch had been Avon’s clerk, but she moved from that job after she was appointed as supervisor to replace Sam Yingling in advance of the election. Yingling, a Democrat, resigned after winning election as the state House District 62 seat in November. Voters will select a new Avon Township clerk in the April election.
