Children who turn 5 by Sept. 1, are eligible for Hawthorn Elementary District 73 kindergarten in the fall. To enroll for kindergarten, a parent/guardian must appear in person at the Hawthorn District Office, 841 West End Court, Vernon Hills, with the child's original certified state-issued birth certificate and documents showing residency in the district. Upon successful completion of walk-in registration, parents must also complete an online process. Registration is available from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The district office will be closed Monday, Feb. 18 for Presidents Day. Evening registration hours are available until 8 p.m. on Feb. 12 and 21.
