Bright campus crop for Eclipse

Eclipse Select's 2013 signings featured several girls soccer players from the Chicago area, including Libertyville High School senior Abi Gearing (Tennessee Tech), Buffalo Grove senior Jackie Georgoulis (Kansas), Lakes senior Kara Morway (Illinois State), Fremd senior Michelle Mottonen (Texas Christian) and Fremd senior Cristina Mursuli (Mercer).

Fremd commitments:It's a bumper crop of Vikings who will be receiving aid to compete at the NCAA Division I or II level. Finalizing their futures Wednesday in a signing ceremony at the school were Breanna Anderson (swimming, St. Louis), Kelly Breen (cross country/track, Iowa), Brian Jestice (baseball, Evansville), Angela Kim (golf, Valparaiso), Amanda Matasumoto (softball, Charleston Southern), Michelle Mazur (softball, Georgia Southern), Michelle Mottonen (soccer, Texas Christian), Christine Piasecki (soccer, Clarke University), Kayleen Samuels (swimming, Ashland University).

DiCarlo to North Central: Mario DiCarlo, a senior safety at BG last fall in coach Mike DiMatteo's first year with the Bison, has committed to furthering his education and playing football at North Central College in Naperville.

Lions signings: St. Viator had six athletes commit to college athletics Wednesday.

Running back Mayo Arogundade committed to play football at St. Joseph's College in Rensselaer, Ind.

Gunnar Kay committed to play baseball at Dallas Baptist University, and Patrick Martin committed to play baseball at Heartland Community College in Normal.

Hugh Masterson and Harry McCollum committed to play football at Georgetown University.

Peter Trunk committed to play lacrosse at Rutgers.
