Every gun should be licensed by the state

Gun control vs. the automobile.
Both have the ability to maim or kill. Both have social impact, though viewed in different ways.

Cars make pollution and kill. Guns kill.
It's simple, but we make excuses as to how they are to be used. Government says get more MPG, NRA says sell more guns and patrol our schools.
We now pay about $100 per year for our car to be licensed in the state of Illinois. Why not pay $100 per year for each gun, $1,000 for each semiautomatic, now on our streets? Failure to be licensed would be a mandatory prison sentence of one day or more. Money collected would go to law enforcement for the benefit of safeguarding our citizens.
Let's do something instead of talk, and get our politicians to act!
