Only one way to know what voters want

Oh, what games politicians choose to play even right here in Arlington Heights. Mr. Thomas Glasgow said he had a problem with a petition presented by Mr. Bill Gnech regarding the question of terms limits. Mr. Glasgow said even though he is a lawyer, the wording of the petition confused him.

However, Mr. Glasgow and other members of the board, please recognize there is no mistaking the intent of the petition. I believe that even a third grader could comprehend that the signers wanted the question of term limits placed on the ballot.

The problem with the wording could be rectified simply by the board placing their own correctly-worded initiative on the ballot. Is not a vote by the public the only true way to assuage the board’s uncertainty of the question, “if the public wants them?”
