Fire damages North Aurora duplex

By

A fire caused about $50,000 in damage to a duplex in North Aurora on Monday afternoon.

North Aurora firefighters responded to the blaze about 1:15 p.m. on the 200 block of Laurel Drive. The fire originated in the first floor of a two-story duplex. Damage left the unit uninhabitable. The other half of the duplex sustained smoke damage but was still livable.

The cause is still under investigation. Aurora, Batavia, Geneva and Sugar Grove fire departments aided the effort.
