Cardinal in winter helps Glen Ellyn’s Robert Wilson win monthly prize

Sometimes holiday presents come from the most unexpected places. That's how it was for Robert Wilson, who woke up Christmas morning, padded into the kitchen of his Glen Ellyn home for a cup of coffee, and happened to glance out the window toward a bank of trees standing, oh, maybe 40 feet from the back of his house. And there, nestled in the bare branches against a drab winter background, was an incredibly vibrant red cardinal that seemed to be gazing right back at him. "It looked," Wilson says now, "like he was staring at the Christmas tree in our family room."
