The Lake County Sheriff's Office will award a $500 college scholarship for the 2013-14 academic year. The money is to be applied to tuition, books and fees only. Applicants must be permanent Lake County residents, scholarships must be utilized at institutions of higher learning within Illinois and students must be enrolled as a full-time student during the 2013-14 school year (excluding summer session). Applications are available at the sheriff's office, 25 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave., Waukegan, or the Lake County sheriff's Facebook page www.facebook.com/LakeCoILSheriff. Students must complete the application, answer the essay question and return all documentation to the sheriff's office by March 15. It is part of the more than $53,000 in college scholarships through the Illinois Sheriff's Association.
