Cook County authorities said they have charged three people with human trafficking for operating a suburban prostitution ring.
The Cook County state's attorney's office announced Friday that 52-year-old Keith Williams, 49-year-old Roman Kurek and 37-year-old Sylvia Topolewski, all of Schiller Park, have been charged with involuntary servitude and trafficking in humans.
The charges come in the wake of an investigation that began in May. According to State's Attorney Anita Alvarez, what started out as an investigation into drugs and prostitution evolved into a human-trafficking case.
Alvarez said Williams' organization provided the sexual services of drug-addicted women to customers, with Williams and the two others taking most of the cash profits.
Williams is being held in lieu of $650,000 bail, with bail set at $350,000 for Kurek and Topolewski.Copyright © 2014 Paddock Publications, Inc. All rights reserved.
