Teen shooting victim appeared in anti-gang video

The 15-year-old girl who was shot in a park near President Barack Obama’s Chicago home appeared in an anti-gang video four years ago.

Hadiya Pendleton is seen telling other students to “say no to gangs and yes to a great future.” She was killed Tuesday, about a week after she performed with her high school in Washington at events for Obama’s inauguration. On Wednesday police and community and religious leaders in Chicago vowed to find her killer. Authorities say they believe a gunman opened fire on Hadiya and a group, thinking they were members of a rival gang. Police say it was a case of mistaken identity.

Later in the video Hadiya says students should be smart, but “joining a gang isn’t a part of it.”
