Naperville police hunting for burglars

By

Naperville police are searching for thieves who stole a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro early Monday morning from a garage on the 2600 block of Champion Road on the city's south side.

Police said a noise from the garage woke the homeowner about 2:30 a.m., and when he looked outside he saw the car with its engine running in front of his house. When he went to the garage he found a man inside a second vehicle.

When confronted, the suspect ran from the garage, hopped in the Camaro and left at a high rate of speed, only to crash near North Aurora and Eola roads in Aurora.

Police said the damaged vehicle was found abandoned with the proceeds from multiple burglaries inside.

Police said they believe there are at least three people responsible for this burglary and possibly others.

Anyone with information is asked to call Naperville Crime Stoppers at (630) 420-6006. A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for tips leading to an arrest.
