Two Elgin men were arrested earlier this week and charged with felony burglary, police said Wednesday.
John D. Holsker and Christopher R. Nauman, both 26 and of the 300 block of McClure Avenue, were arrested Monday in connection to a vehicle burglary Jan. 15, Elgin police said in a news release.
Large amounts of clothing and jewelry were taken from a vehicle in the parking lot of the Meijer store at 815 S. Randall Road. The vehicle had been left unlocked in the parking lot, police said.
Store video surveillance showed two suspects committing the burglary, and one of the suspects later entered the store and stole two bottles of alcohol, police said.
Police officers said they were able to identify Nauman as the person who stole the alcohol, and later identified Holsker. Police were able to recover much of jewelry from a resale shop.
Nauman was charged with burglary, retail theft and theft — all felonies — for selling the stolen items and receiving payment for the sale, police said. He was in court Wednesday and was being held on $80,000 bail at the Kane County jail.
Holsker was charged with one felony count of burglary and a misdemeanor count of theft for his involvement in selling the stolen items, police said. He appeared in bond court Wednesday and was released after posting $1,000 cash bond.Copyright © 2013 Paddock Publications, Inc. All rights reserved.
