Arlington releases stakes race schedule

The International Festival of Racing, featuring the 31st running of the Grade I Arlington Million, tops a 2013 thoroughbred racing schedule that includes 25 stakes races worth $5.5 million.
Arlington International Racecourse's 89-day season will run May 3 through Sept. 29.
The track's biggest day will take place on Aug. 17 for the International Festival of Racing, which will feature three Grade I events: the Arlington Million, the $750,000 Beverly D., and the $500,000 Secretariat Stakes. Two other stakes races, the American St. Leger the Hatoof Stakes also will race that day on the track's prized turf course
The 2013 schedule includes several days that combine multiple stakes races onto a single card.
The first is scheduled for Saturday, May 25, and will feature three Grade III events: the $150,000 Arlington Matron, the $150,000 Hanshin Cup, and the $150,000 Arlington Classic.
Illinois-breds are prominent in June with a pair of stakes races restricted to "Prairie Staters" slated for each of the month's first three Saturdays.
