Unemployment forms available in Spanish, Polish

SPRINGFIELD — Illinois applications for unemployment benefits are now available online in Spanish and Polish.

Department of Employment Security officials say online applications are preferable to paper ones because of accuracy and efficiency.

The new translations come after other changes made to help people whose primary language is not English.

The agency converted key documents on its website last year to the four non-English languages most requested — Spanish, Polish, simplified Chinese and Russian.

Other translations are available when requested. The agency has had requests for more than 60 languages.

The agency also sponsors the IllinoisJobLink help-wanted website. It features more than 100,000 job openings and 70,000 resumes of job-seekers.

The Department of Employment Security also offers no-cost recruitment services to Illinois businesses.
