U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development officials again have lauded a local agency. HUD has rated the Lake County Housing Authority's choice voucher program as a high performer in 2012. Lake County is among a select number of housing authorities — roughly 3,200 across the United States — to achieve and maintain this designation. Lake County Housing Authority Executive Director David Northern said it is "truly remarkable" how the agency received high marks from the federal government again. "Through such recognitions, HUD helps attest that we are fulfilling our unwavering commitment to maintain a top level of service for the clients we serve," Northern said. Lake County Housing Authority provides assistance to about 3,500 families.
