An Aurora man who was found to have nearly 500 birds inside his feces-filled home says the hoarding charges against him should be dismissed.
The attorney for David Skeberdis contended in a Tuesday court filing that Aurora authorities didnít follow the law in charging him with the misdemeanor and impounding the parakeets, cockatoos and other birds in his home. About 150 dead birds were removed from the home.
The Chicago Sun-Times reported defense attorney Roderick Mollison argued in the motion the Illinois Department of Agriculture should have issued an order to impound the birds before they were removed from the home.
A hearing on the defense motion is scheduled for Feb. 26.
Aurora officials declined to comment on Skeberdisí motion.Copyright © 2014 Paddock Publications, Inc. All rights reserved.
