Bartlett fundraiser to help Larkin teacher

Submitted by Baylee Matison

On Monday, Feb. 11, a fundraiser will be held for teacher Deborah Daly from 7 to 11 p.m. at Moretti's Ristorante, 1175 W. Lake St. in Bartlett. The fundraiser will help raise money for her outstanding medical bills.

Daly worked at both Provena St. Joseph Hospital and Larkin High School up until September when she suffered the first of five strokes. She worked at Larkin for 11 years as a sponsor, coach, and health occupations teacher. Her expertise has allowed hundreds of students to take and pass the state-mandated certified nursing assistant test that helps many students start their career in the medical field. But even before her career as a teacher and nurse at St. Joseph, she lent her talents to help others in need. Her past work includes nursing at Children's Memorial Hospital, raising four children, and being a part of major changes in health care for quadriplegics and ventilation care.

This event will feature raffles, silent auctions, live music and dancing, as well as a celebration of the woman who is continuing to fight for her health. Tickets are $10 for students, age 18 and younger, and $20 for adults. For questions or to buy tickets in advance, contact Natalie Judkins at (847) 602-3636.
