Island Lake Village Clerk Connie Mascillino and Mayor Debbie Herrmann recused themselves from a pair of local election boards due to the perceived conflict of interest. The cases involve two political opponents facing possible removal from the April 9 ballot because of alleged electoral-law violations. Mascillino and Herrmann have been replaced on the boards by trustees Thea Morris and Shannon Fox, who aren't running in April.
