Authorities say toxicology testing will help determine an official cause of death for a Grayslake man whose body was found near a small airport.
Joseph Frase, 20, was found near Campbell Airport in Round Lake Park about 10:35 a.m. Tuesday by volunteers who had been searching the area for him, authorities said.
Frase hadn’t been seen since departing on foot from a party on the 300 block of Highplains Road in the Madrona Village subdivision in Round Lake for his Grayslake home about 1 a.m. Sunday, according to police. He purportedly called friends after leaving the party, but they didn’t immediately find him.
Round Lake Park Police Chief George Filenko said Frase was found wearing only jeans, a T-shirt and a sweatshirt. He said Frase did not wear an overcoat, a hat or gloves in the frigid weather.
Filenko said authorities are awaiting the toxicology test results as part of an autopsy before the Lake County coroner’s office determines an official cause of death for Frase. Coroner Thomas Rudd has said there were no obvious signs of trauma.
“We do not suspect foul play,” Filenko said.
Police said they were trying to determine what happened from the time Frase left Round Lake to when his body was found.Copyright © 2014 Paddock Publications, Inc. All rights reserved.
