District 70 presents “Character Counts” awards

The hospital members were recognized for working with District 70 art students to provide a variety of temporary artwork to hang on patient doors and in rooms throughout the hospital, including the newest “tower” area and ICU. Art teacher Cindi Sartain nominated the hospital members for the award.

To honor the student work, the hospital framed artwork by Rockland students Karen Tarmen and Hailey Petz, along with collaborative artwork created by groups of students — all of which is permanently on display in the hospital’s ICU. Last year, the hospital also worked with District 70 to create a permanent gallery of student artwork in the hospital lobby.

Members of the Character Counts! Committee include Sue Warfel, Conna Rech, Kim Zilch, Gwen Travelstead, Janet Chickey, Dale List, Mara Battaglia, Alan Esser, Michele Hernandez and Kathy Dinger.
