Barrington officials have promoted police Sgt. David Dorn to the rank of assistant police chief and patrol officer John Burke to the rank of sergeant.
The office of assistant chief — previously deputy chief — has remained vacant for three and a half years for budgetary reasons, Police Chief Jerry Libit said. The second-in-command position, which Libit previously held himself, has historically been of invaluable help to the chief and insures the potential for a smooth succession of authority within the department, he added.
Dorn has been with the department for 14 years and Burke for 12 years.Copyright © 2014 Paddock Publications, Inc. All rights reserved.
