Meet the new boss, same as the old boss

The newly sworn-in members of the Illinois legislature (with the exception of those facing criminal charges) are the taxpayers’ next best hope for integrity in government. The sad reality, however, is that, after a token and all-too-brief period of indignation, all will fall into line with the self-serving, back-slapping, wink-and-nod system for which Illinois is nationally infamous.
