Quincy man jailed in connection with killing

By

QUINCY — A Quincy man is jailed on $1 million bond after being charged in a shooting death in the Mississippi River city.

The Quincy Herald-Whig reports 44-year-old Vincent Carter made his first court appearance this week on the Adams County murder charge, repeatedly telling a judge he didn’t understand the count or possible sentence.

A judge appointed a public defender for Carter and scheduled a preliminary hearing for Jan. 23.

Carter is accused of killing 53-year-old Terry Williams last week at an apartment complex in Quincy.

Carter’s public defender hasn’t returned a message left Wednesday seeking comment.
