Three men shot in Aurora

By Sara Hooker

Three men were shot Saturday in Aurora after a dispute broke out during a custody exchange, police said.

A father and two companions, all from Peoria, traveled to Aurora to return an 11-month-old child to his mother. The parents agreed to meet at a former mutual residence on the 2600 block of Village Green Drive, said Aurora police spokesman Dan Ferrell.

The father and mother quarreled, prompting a male companion with the mother to shoot the three men as they attempted to drive away shortly after 4 p.m. Saturday, Ferrelli said.

The father, age 21, was grazed by a bullet in his thigh. A 19-year-old companion had a bullet graze his head. A 59-year-old companion was seriously injured when he was shot in the torso and back. The two younger men were treated in released, while the older victim was hospitalized but is expected to survive.

The mother, who now lives in Chicago, fled with the baby and the man police believe fired the shots. They left the scene in a gold Chevy Malibu.

No arrests have been made, and Aurora police continue to investigate.
