Sure, let's put arm guards at school

Who needs more gun control laws or threats to the Second Amendment when we have the NRA loaded with practical solutions?

You have to give Wayne LaPierre a lot of credit for the truly inspirational proposal to protect our students that the NRA presented at their unidirectional "news conference". I'm surprised that I didn't think of it myself.

What a simple solution! Some of the details still need to be worked out, such as the type of firepower the "good guy with a gun" should possess. After all, you can't expect a guard at school to be under-armed when he's up against some lunatic with military-grade firearms.

I suggest the M4A1 Carbine with the optional M203A1 Grenade Launcher. As I'm sure Mr. LaPierre would agree, there is no need in taking any chances when it comes to common sense defense.

I also recommend that the guard or police officer be located in a tower at the school in a position to see the entire perimeter of the school property, so that if a potential armed intruder is spotted approaching the school grounds, he can be taken out in dramatic fashion.

The whole scenario could also be recorded on video and aired on the nightly news. This would serve as a deterrent to any other aspiring mass murderers who watch the "bad guy with a gun" get his remains distributed over a three-county area.
