Coroner: 2 dead in Springfield were homicides

SPRINGFIELD — The Sangamon County Coroner says two people found dead inside a Springfield home were apparently the victims of a double homicide.

The (Springfield) State Journal-Register reports that Coroner Cinda Edwards says a preliminary investigation ruled out a murder-suicide in the deaths of the two people, whose bodies were found Monday inside an apartment. Authorities are continuing their investigation, and autopsies are planned.

Authorities haven’t said how 24-year-old Larry Grice and 24-year-old Andrea Pocklington died. But the newspaper reports that initial scanner reports indicated the two had been shot to death, and Springfield Police Deputy Cliff Buscher on Tuesday said state police blood-spatter experts have been asked to investigate.

There’s no word of any arrests.
