Contest entries demonstrate magic of color, black and white

Each week’s DuPage County Neighbor section includes at least one entry in our Photo Finish contest. Our photo staffers pick some of their favorite submissions to run each week and then one overall monthly winner.

This week’s entries celebrate color or, in one case, the lack of it.

Julie Kolakowski-Jeong of Roselle captured her image of her nephew in the orange glow of Chicago’s Shedd Aquarium.

Vivek Jena of Naperville captured the blues of frost on a window pane.

And Carla Mass of Wheaton captured the coast of Costa Rica with a stark yet beautiful black and white image.

If you’d like to submit a photo of your own for consideration, email it in .jpg format with at least 300 dpi resolution to ssanders@dailyherald.com.

Include your name, address and phone number, plus a description of where you took the photo and the occasion.

The monthly winner will receive a $50 gift certificate, good at PJ’s Camera. Pickwick Place Plaza, 662 Roosevelt Road, Glen Ellyn.
