Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp., a Canadian renewable-energy producer, purchased a 109.5-megawatt wind farm in Illinois from China’s Xinjiang Goldwind Science & Technology Co.
Algonquin paid $148.9 million for the Shady Oaks project about 50 miles west of Chicago, the Oakville, Canada-based company said in a statement today.
Shady Oaks was completed in June and is selling electricity to Exelon Corp.’s Commonwealth Edison under a 20-year contract. Goldwind will be responsible for operating the plant.
