The Grayslake Library hosts a Shoe Recycling and Donation Program Wednesday, Jan. 2 through Friday, April 26. The library is partnering with SWALCO, and collecting shoes to be reused in two ways. All brands of worn-out or unwanted athletic shoes will be recycled. They will be ground up and recycled into a material that will be used to create long-lasting sports surfaces, such as tennis courts, athletic fields, running tracks, carpet padding and playgrounds. New or unwanted gently worn shoes of all kinds, including boots, slippers, sandals, flip-flops, dress shoes, etc., will be donated to a local charity.

Simply drop off your shoes in the library lobby in the shoe collection box. The library is at 100 Library Lane, Grayslake.
