Joffrey’s ‘Nutcracker’ wins national award again

A Chicago production of “The Nutcracker” has won a national award for the second time.

The Joffrey Ballet’s production earned the Goldstar National Nutcracker Award, which includes a cash prize to go toward education programs.

The award debuted in 2007 and goes to the production with the best members reviews and event rating. More than 40 productions competed, including the San Francisco Ballet’s.

Goldstar CEO Jim McCarthy in a statement says the Joffrey’s production of “The Nutcracker” is a crowd favorite.

The Joffrey first won in 2011. It’s celebrating its 25th anniversary of its Nutcracker production.
