Minor delays for Metra trains

text size: AAA

Metra passengers on the Milwaukee North, Milwaukee West and the North Central may experience minor delays in leaving Union Station as the result of a derailment Monday evening.

Metra spokesman Tom Miller said a train coming from Franklin Park that was approaching the station to pick up passengers derailed around 6 p.m., with two trains leaving the tracks, but not tipping over.

No passengers were on the train, Miller said. Only crew members were present at the time.

Miller said the cause of the derailment, which occurred on Amtrak property, is still under investigation.

If any delays occur Monday night, they should be no greater than 15 minutes, he said.
