Quinn: Donate unused frequent flier miles to vets

Gov. Pat Quinn is urging Illinois residents to support military veterans this Christmas by donating their unused frequent flier miles to Operation Hero Miles.

The program aims to make sure service members are able to travel to visit their families while on leave.

Quinn will discuss the program during a visit Sunday to Fisher House at the Edward Hines Jr. Veterans’ Affairs Hospital in Chicago’s western suburbs.

Fisher House provides temporary living accommodations for families of veterans who are receiving medical care at the VA hospital.

The governor just returned from his annual trip to Germany to deliver holiday cards to U.S. service members at the Landstuhl (LAHND’-shtool) Regional Medical Center.
