Fatal crash victim has ties to Naperville area

The victim of a fatal car crash Wednesday morning has been identified as a 26-year-old man from San Francisco who has ties in the Naperville area.

Officials from the DuPage County coroner's office on Thursday identified the victim as Shaneal Manek, who died after his Mercedes-Benz left the roadway and struck a tree in an unincorporated area near Glen Ellyn.

The crash occurred at 7:25 a.m. on Park Boulevard south of Butterfield Road. Manek was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to Manek's Facebook page, he was originally from Naperville.

Officials from the DuPage County sheriff's office have not yet determined a cause of the accident.
