Naperville man faces sex assault charge

A Naperville man was arrested by police on a sexual assault charge stemming from an incident that occurred in a LaGrange parking garage Tuesday morning, authorities said.

David A. Mason, 28, a homeless man whose last address was in Naperville, was taken into custody after a foot pursuit with LaGrange police officers after the attack, police said.

He appeared in court in Bridgeview on Wednesday, and bond was set at $500,000.

Mason is charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault for an incident that took place in the foyer of the Village of LaGrange parking garage located at 80 S. 6th Ave. Mason was also charged with resisting a peace officer.

According to police, on Tuesday at approximately 4:30 a.m., Mason confronted the victim, a homeless person from Brookfield, while the victim was sleeping in the top of the staircase of the main vestibule.

Police said the victim had a cellphone and used it to call 9-1-1 immediately after the attack.

As the call was taking place, police said, the suspect was seen running away by a dispatcher and an officer on several of the garage video cameras.

The victim received minor injuries during the attack, police said, and was treated and released from an area hospital.
