Man dies when car hits tree near Glen Ellyn

A man died Wednesday morning when his vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree in an unincorporated area near Glen Ellyn, authorities said.

The crash occurred at 7:25 a.m. on Park Boulevard south of Butterfield Road.

The vehicle, a Mercedes-Benz, was headed south toward Route 53 when it struck the tree, according to the DuPage County sheriff's office.

The unidentified driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other vehicles were involved.

Park Boulevard from Butterfield Road to Sycamore Road was closed for most of the morning while authorities continued to investigate, but reopened by 12:30 p.m.

The cause of the crash wasn't immediately known.

Sheriff's detectives were continuing to investigate and asked anyone with information to call (630) 407-2400.
